Janice Rivera has been named Executive Director for Academic Support and Access Programs at Farmingdale State College. She will oversee nine programs in the college’s Division of Academic Affairs.
Rivera assumes her new position only two years after being named Director of Academic Support Programs. Since being hired by the college in 2005, as director of the Educational Opportunity Program, she has worked with hundreds of students to help ensure that they have the opportunity, resources, and necessary support to successfully pursue the dream of attaining a college education. She is a first-generation college graduate herself, who has dedicated her more than 20 year career to serving at-risk students.
Rivera earned a BA in Psychology and MS in Counseling Psychology from SUNY’s University at Albany. She also holds a Certificate of Advanced Study in School Counseling.
