Denny Ryman, EdD, has been named Dean of the School of Health Sciences at Farmingdale State College. He joins Farmingdale after serving seven years as the Dean of the College of Health Sciences at the University of Louisiana at Monroe.
Farmingdale State College President W. Hubert Keen said, “Dr. Ryman will bring extensive experience that can help advance the School from its core of excellent existing programs, and to support the leadership of academic departments that enroll many of our strongest students. I look forward to working with him.”
“I am delighted to assume the position of the Dean of the Theresa Patnode Santmann School of Health Sciences,” said Dr. Ryman, who holds the EdD from the University of Sarasota, and did post-doctoral work in health disparities in underserved populations at The Johns Hopkins University. “The School has a long and distinguished record of exceptional teaching, which has produced many of the best and brightest health care graduates in the nation.”
“My goals for the School of Health Sciences will be to continue the strong tradition of quality teaching and to develop new health sciences programs that will serve the people of Long Island and the surrounding region.”
During his tenure at the University of Louisiana at Monroe, Dr. Ryman established master’s degrees in occupational therapy and long-term-care nursing, and developed a doctorate in health professions education. Prentice Hall published his book on medical technology/clinical laboratory science, and he has authored more than 20 articles on the health sciences. He has won nine grants during his career and presented papers at a dozen conferences. Dr. Ryman earned his MS at the University of Arkansas and a BS from James Madison University.
