Farmingdale State Named A Top New York College For Return On Investment

Ranked 30th of 472 by AffordableCollegesOnline

August 22, 2013

Farmingdale State College has been named a Top College for Greatest Lifetime Return on Investment for its graduates by AffordableCollegesOnline.org, a leading resource for information on college affordability.

Farmingdale was ranked #30 out of 84, from among 472 New York State colleges analyzed. Farmingdale ranked #5 among SUNY colleges. The rankings included both public and private not-for-profit four-year institutions.

Farmingdale was recognized as giving its graduates one of the greatest possible lifetime returns on investment.  "We've sifted through comprehensive data sources to find colleges and universities in New York that offer a high quality education with consistent, long-term payoffs in the workplace," said AffordableColleges' founder Dan Schuessler.

Farmingdale President Keen reacted with pride to the announcement:  "We are pleased that Farmingdale's faculty and curriculum are recognized as the high-value investment we have striven to make them.  We take care that our students benefit from the exceptional opportunities which a Farmingdale education provides."

The recent ranking reflects that Farmingdale's graduates benefit from the powerful combination of high lifetime earnings and low net costs, resulting in one of the largest earnings gaps between its graduates and non-degree holders over a lifetime. The calculations confirm that Farmingdale offers its students – and their families -- a tremendous value.

Another critical factor for parents and students to consider when comparing colleges is the student debt load upon graduation.  In that regard, Farmingdale has also been recognized in 2013 by U.S. News and World Report as the only Long Island school, and the only one in the entire SUNY system, qualifying for their category of Least Student Debt upon graduation.  In addition, Farmingdale was named one of the best colleges in the North in that same report.

Farmingdale offer its students four-year degree programs in technical fields such as Security Systems, Aviation, Medical Technology, Electrical Engineering Technology and Software Technology, giving Farmingdale graduates the best possible options for securing highly-paid technical jobs upon graduation.
