Dr.Diane Smith Is Promoted At Farmingdale State

Becomes Full Professor in the College's English/Humanities Department

Dr. Diane Smith has been promoted from associate professor to full professor of English in the English/Humanities department at Farmingdale State College. She joined the faculty in 1988 as an assistant professor.

A Brooklyn resident, Dr. Smith in 2006 received the Chancellor's Award for Excellence in Teaching, a prestigious award within the SUNY system that is presented only to those candidates who have a record of consistently superior performance and a long commitment to the SUNY system. Smith holds a BA from Brooklyn College and her PhD from New University.

Farmingdale State's English/Humanities department is part of the College's Liberal Arts and Sciences program, which enrolls more than 2,500 students. The department's faculty includes five winners of the Chancellor's Award for Excellence in Teaching as well as twoDistinguished Teaching Professors. The department also houses two important college resources: The Visiting Writers Program and AITIA Magazine, a publication that meets the needs of teaching philosophy and the humanities.
