Farmingdale State SBDC Advisor Receives LIBN Award
Ritu S. Wackett Inducted into "Forty Under Forty" for 2008
Business Advisor Ritu S. Wackett , of the Farmingdale State Small Business Development Center , has been inducted into 2008's "Top Forty under Forty." This award, given by the Long Island Business News , recognizes Long Island 's brightest young business leaders - rising stars in their given fields.
Wackett is well versed in economic development and takes great pride in educating and assisting entrepreneurs to realize their dreams. Since 2002, she has assisted over 1,500 entrepreneurs resulting in over $10 million of investment in the Long Island economy. Additionally, she sits on the Board of Directors of the Child Care Council of Nassau and Suffolk County Executive Steve Levy's Asian American Advisory Board. Additionally, she was a founding board member of the Unites States Women's Chamber of Commerce, New York Affiliate.
"It is an honor to accept this award," said Wackett. "Being selected among such an outstanding group of young professionals is humbling. All the same, I'm proud of what I do and the impact it has on the local economy. Being recognized for my contributions is a welcome validation."
In her spare time, Wackett is an avid tennis player, long distance runner and skier. Ritu and her husband, Dr. Andrew Wackett, reside in Setauket with their two young sons.
