Poet Linda L. Dove to Appear at Farmingdale State College
Poet Linda L. Dove Farmingdale State College's Visiting Writers Program is pleased to present Linda L. Dove , 2005 Paumanok Poetry Award Runner-up, on Tuesday, February 20 at 11:00 a.m. in the Ward Hall Great Room.
Linda Dove writes and ranches in Skull Valley , Arizona , following fifteen years of college teaching. She holds a PhD in Renaissance literature and taught most recently at Yavapai College in Prescott , Arizona , where she briefly directed the creative writing program. Recent poems have appeared in The Antigonish Review , Alligator Juniper , Harpur Palate , and Clackamas Literary Review , and have won several awards, including the 2005 Stephen Dunn Award and the 2001 Alice Longan Award for a collection inspired by the American Southwest.
The Visiting Writers Program highlights the importance of literature in education and culture and works to develop its resources and strengthen its service on behalf of this idea. The audience for the program includes: faculty, students, and professional staff from the college as well as many individuals from the surrounding Long Island and Metropolitan community.
All events are free and open to the public .
