Horticulture Award Recipients

Farmingdale State College's ornamental horticulture students were honored on Wednesday, April 25, 2007 at the Farmingdale Horticulture Committee's Annual Scholarship Reception for their hard work and excellence in the field of horticulture. Thirteen students received almost $19,000 worth of scholarship money in the names of influential organizations and leaders in the billion dollar 'green' industry.
Farmingdale State College President Dr. W. Hubert Keen is pleased to announce that Win Knowlton , a New York City resident, is this year's recipient of the Long Island Arboricultural Association, Inc. (LIAA) award.
The Long Island Arboricultural Association, Inc. is a not for profit educational organization dedicated to education for the appreciation and care of shade trees and shrubs on Long Island. In addition, we strive to stimulate interest in tree planting and preservation, to encourage research towards appropriate protection of trees and shrubs and to encourage the practices of efficient and proper tree care methods.
The Farmingdale Horticulture Committee's mission is to benefit excellence in the Farmingdale State College horticulture curriculum, to provide scholarships for the best and brightest students, to advertise the program and to further the development of the Horticulture teaching gardens as the very finest in the Northeast, if not the country.
