"Dress For Success" Fashion Show at Farmingdale State College
Job fairs and interviews are part of every student's future at Farmingdale State College. Part of preparing for career fairs and interviews is choosing the right professional outfit to wear to these events.
This can be a difficult proposition but, with help, students can put together the right clothes to make a great first impression.
The Career Development Center, Lord & Taylor Stores, and the Office of Student Activities will co-host a Dress for Success Fashion Show to help students learn what kind of clothing is appropriate for business events such as Job Fairs. Lord & Taylor will provide all the apparel for the show. Lord & Taylor models and Farmingdale State College students will wear the fashions from top designers including Ralph Lauren, Calvin Klein, DKNY and Tahari.
The Fashion Show will take place on Tuesday, April 17, 2007 from 11:00 a.m. - 12:30 p.m. in the Roosevelt Hall Little Theater. The Fashion Show is being held one week prior to the April 26 Career/Job Fair. Attending the Fashion Show and workshops will give students an opportunity to learn how to professionally present themselves to the approximately 100 companies expected at the Fair.
During the Fashion Show, Dolores Ciaccio, Assistant Director of FSC's Career Development Center, will conduct a ½ hour workshop on how to dress for success. Lord & Taylor will then present its Dress for Success clothing and participants will have an opportunity to hear from some of the leading clothing manufacturers today. "Students need to realize that their appearance is the first thing an employer notices about them. Students may have only one chance to make a first impression," said Ms. Ciaccio.
The Fashion Show will explain what types of clothing are appropriate to be worn to job fairs, interviews and on the job. Topics may include color choice and best choice outfits.
Giveaways, goodie bags and raffles will be provided by Lord & Taylor. Light refreshments will be provided by the Career Development Center .
Admission to the Fashion Show is free of charge and by reservation only. Please RSVP by April 12 to the Career Development Center at 631-420-2488 or firstname.lastname@example.org .
