2007 Alumni Awards Dinner
2007 Alumni Awards Dinner More than 200 alumni, family members and friends gathered at the 2007 Alumni Awards Dinner on Thursday, December 6 at Carlyle on the Green to honor four individuals who have enriched Farmingdale State College through their ongoing service and generosity.
The honorees were welcomed by Farmingdale State College President Dr. W. Hubert Keen who said "Farmingdale has a long history, now 95 years of history, of dedication to the education of its students. And the results show: we have highly successful alumni working in many facets of business and industry. When I speak with Alumni they consistently speak fonly about their education and experiences at the College.
Robert L. Van Nostrand, AS Business Administration '77, received the prestigious "Alumnus of the Year" award. Van Nostrand is currently the Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer of AGI Dermatics, Inc. located in Freeport , New York . He is the former Vice President and CFO of OSI Pharmaceuticals. He holds a BS in Accounting from Long Island University and completed advanced management studies at the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania . He is a Certified Public Accountant. An active member of the Farmingdale College Foundation since 2002, Van Nostrand has proven his dedication and sustained support of the mission of Farmingdale State College.
Robert C. Meyer, AS Construction Technology '64, and Dr. Lee Anne Xippolitos, AS Nursing '75, were named Outstanding Alumni of the year.
For the first time, the Farmingdale State College Alumni Association recognized an
Outstanding Employer Partner, Underwriters Laboratories in Melville, NY. Gary R. Johnson, BT Electrical Engineering
Technology '90, was awarded the Outstanding Alumni UL Employee.
The four recipients were recognized for their successes in business, law, nursing and education, as well as their continuing contributions to the College and their communities. According to Director of Alumni Affairs Eileen Hasson, "This is an extremely diverse group - people from different backgrounds who have different specialties... What they all share is a great love of Farmingdale State College." It is expected that the newly reinvigorated Alumni Association will hold this awards dinner annually to recognize the contributions of some of the more than 83,000 Farmingdale State alumni.
