School of Health Sciences' Students Receive

On April 28, 2006, students gathered with their families, friends and professors in Farmingdale State University of New York's Little Theater for the Student Awards for Academic Excellence Ceremony.

Dr. Jonathan Gibralter, president of Farmingdale State, and Dr. Hubert Keen, provost and vice president of Academic Affairs, both spoke about how proud they were of the students and their superior academic achievement. "The Awards for Academic Excellence honor the very highest levels of academic excellence in the institution. The Student Award for Academic Excellence is presented annually to two students in each curriculum with the highest grade point average in their entire record at Farmingdale State." said Dr. Hubert Keen.

Student Awards for Academic Excellence – School of Health Sciences

Susan Giuffrida, an Island Park resident, received the Student Award for Academic Excellence in Dental Hygiene. Susan earned an A. S. in Business Administration from Queensboro Community College and an A. S. in Dental Hygiene in 2003 from Farmingdale State. Susan is the Secretary and Treasurer of Alpha Sigma Phi Honor Society. She will graduate with a B. S in Dental Hygiene.

Melissa Baptiste, a Brooklyn resident, is the recipient of the Student Award for Academic Excellence in Medical Laboratory Technology. Melissa is a member of Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society and Lambda Tau Honor Society. She has participated in Medical Laboratory Technology Club and educational Opportunity Program Club. In addition, Melissa's superior grades earned her inclusion on both the President's list and the National Dean's list.

Bina Rosenberg-Benisch, a Jericho resident, is the recipient of the Award for Academic Excellence in Nursing. Bina earned her B.A. from Queens College and a M. S. from C.W. Post Long Island University. Bina continued her education at Farmingdale State studying Nursing. She has earned membership in Phi Beta Kappa Honor Society and Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society. Bina served as Chairperson of the Freshman Mentor Committee. In addition, Bina earned honors in Psychology and inclusion on the Dean's list.
