Farmingdale State Dental Hygiene Students Win Top Awards at 2005 Greater New York Dental Exhibit
Farmingdale State University of New York dental hygiene students displayed presentations at the Greater New York Dental Exhibit at the Jacob Javits Center in New York City and swept with the top three awards. The six-day event from November 25 through November 30 brought together over 42,000 registrants. Attendees were drawn from 50 states plus Puerto Rico, the U.S. Virgin Islands and the District of Columbia. The event ended with an awards reception provided courtesy of the Greater New York Dental Meeting.
Kristal Dabrowski of Maspeth won first place for her exhibit titled, "Periodontal Disease and Nosocomial Infections in Medically Compromised Patients" with an award of $500. Farmingdale resident, Martha Macaluso, and Dix Hills resident, Breanna Teel worked together to present "Oral Health and the Aging Adult", which earned them second place and a $400 award. Finally, Erica Viagliano from Oceanside and Jennifer Zoller from Miller Place were awarded third place in the amount of $300 for their display "Eating Disorders and Oral Health."
All five recipients are second year dental hygiene students at Farmingdale State.
