(Live Burn at 11:00 a.m.)

DETAILS: Farmingdale State, in cooperation with the New York State Office of Fire Prevention and Control, will hold a "Seeing is Believing" Campus Fire Safety Awareness demonstration in advance of National Fire Safety Week to be observed October 5-11 this year.

The demonstration will include a "live burn" of two model dorm rooms, one equipped with a sprinkler system and one without to graphically demonstrate fire's swift destruction.

The day will also feature a humorous and informative talking Hydrant to reinforce the message to "Get out and stay alive!" To better understand how firefighters work, participants can try on firefighters' turnout gear.

The East Farmingdale and Melville Fire Departments have been invited to participate. Farmingdale State actively educates its students about the dangers of fire.

Directions to Farmingdale State:
From the LIE – Take Exit 49 South Route 110/Broadhollow Road and turn right at the first entrance to the campus. Take the sixth possible left and park in lot #4.
