Entrepreneurship Conference at Farmingdale State –

On Saturday, May 6, 2006, the School of Business will join the New York State Small Business Development Center (SBDC) at Farmingdale State University of New York to present the second annual Entrepreneurship Conference titled, "Boot Camp for Starting and Growing a Business."

The full day conference will focus on business ownership and self-employment as a career choice (or career change). Attendees will have a wide selection of workshops such as "Online Auctions: Business Opportunities,"  "Franchising – Instead of Going it Alone," and "Financing a Small Business - Where's The Money and How to Get It." There will be ample time for networking with other attendees during breakfast, lunch and the afternoon networking reception.

The morning keynote speaker will be Scott Matovich, President and CEO of Quantum Medical Imaging LLC. In the afternoon, the keynote speaker will be Mark Burford, Founder and Brewmaster of Blue Point Brewing Company. These very successful businessmen will provide insights which will give entrepreneurs the basics needed to start and grow a business.

Based on last year's comments, this conference is a "must attend" event for anyone starting or operating a small business.

Established in 1986, the SBDC at Farmingdale State provides free one-on-one business counseling to either startup or existing businesses and works closely with the college's School of Business.

The advance registration fee for the conference, which will meet from 8:30 a.m. — 4:00 p.m. in Roosevelt Hall, is $25; Farmingdale State students and alumni receive a discounted registration fee of $15. The walk-in registration fee will be $40.

To register, visit www.farmingdalebconference.com or call Dorothy Harris, SBDC, at 631-370-8887.
