Farmingdale State College Small Business Advisors Win Top Awards

On May 4, Ritu Wackett (Setauket) and John Narciso (Valley Stream), Senior Business Advisors at the Small Business Development Center (SBDC) at Farmingdale State College were named Business Advisor of the Year Awards at the 2012 New York State Small Business Development Center (NYSSBDC) annual conference in Suffern.

"I am pleased to make this announcement and to recognize both John and Ritu for their extraordinary contributions to the small business community on Long Island," said Farmingdale SBDC Regional Director Lucille Wesnofske.  "Each advisor brings a wealth of experience to every one of his or her clients and should be recognized for his or her specializations. John assists veterans and Ritu, well versed in exporting and procurement as well as being bi-lingual, assists Hispanic clients in achieving their goals."

The SBDC Counselor Award recognizes the top six advisors, among more than 150 advisors throughout the State, for their outstanding achievement in quality business counseling and distinguished, long-term service in economic development for the Long Island business community.

The SBDC at Farmingdale State College provides free one-on-one advisement to emerging and existing entrepreneurs and assists more than 1,000 clients per year, resulting in an average of over $17 million impacting the Long Island Economy.  For more information, visit
