Florence, located in the renowned region of Tuscany, is situated on the banks of the Arno River, surrounded by the rolling hills of the Italian countryside. Here students can soak up the culture and history of this great city while learning Italian and studying in buildings from centuries past. Florence is perhaps best known as one of the birthplaces of the Italian Renaissance at the end of the 14th Century. It is a city that welcomes visitors, scholars, artists and students to walk her streets, relive past discoveries in the arts and sciences, and glimpse the rich history that permeates every inch of the city. Students in Florence experience the city with others from around the world who share a passion for learning.

Florence University of the Arts

  • Florence University of the Arts offers a variety of courses in the fall, spring, and summer.
  • In addition, you’ll also be able to go on field trips, participate in community engagement opportunities, and join extracurricular activities that let you experience Italy outside of a classroom when you study abroad in Florence.
  • FUA also provides full on-site support, arranges housing, orientation, excursions and more.

Program Requirements

  • GPA Requirement: 2.75 minimum
  • Students must be in good disciplinary standing
  • Open to Sophomores, Juniors and Seniors



  • Students have two housing options:
    • Arranged apartment style housing
      • Students live with other international students, in fully furnished apartments in the areas surrounding the university campus. All apartments vary in size and location but all apartments will be in historical and traditional Florentine buildings.
    • Homestay
      • Students have the option to live with a host family and be immersed in the Italian culture and language. Breakfast and dinner are provided Monday through Thursday by the host family.
