The College is keenly aware of the growing concern about the spread of the coronavirus. We hope to address these concerns. We know of no member of the campus community who has contracted the coronavirus. Also important, all public colleges on LI remain fully operational. Only a few school districts have closed; in each case the closure is expected to be for a limited time. We are in communication daily with SUNY officials and the NYS Department of Health. Neither has recommended class cancellation.
The College has taken ongoing preventive steps, including an aggressive sanitization program and, most recently, postponing or canceling external events to further limit any exposure for our students and staff. These latest steps are far beyond those taken by most campuses, and exceed the Centers for Disease Control and Department of Health recommendations.
FSC students have been asked to return from Study Abroad programs. None of the returning students were in a Level 2 or 3 nation.
The College is making preparations should it be necessary to move instruction to online delivery. You will receive more information about how to prepare in the event that remote delivery becomes necessary.
We will continue to update the campus and vigilantly address the public health threat. This remains our highest priority. we urge each of you to practice personal hygiene habits that can effectively prevent the spread of the coronavirus.
