Dr. David Overton

Dr. Overton has been with Farmingdale State College since 2014 where he has enjoyed teaching in an energizing, multi-cultural campus. An active member of Actors' Equity Association, Screen Actors Guild and AFTRA, Dr. Overton also serves as Founding Artistic Director for Long Island Classics Stage Company. Inspired by his experiences as Access Opera Manager at the Metropolitan Opera Guild, Dr. Overton created the online resource iHearShakespeare.org, which offers downloadable audio synopses of Shakespeare's more popular plays in English and Spanish. His novella, Panda's Path, is available on Amazon. His visual art has been displayed in various settings from North Carolina to New York. Dr. Overton has directed plays and musicals in New York, Colorado, North Carolina, Texas, and most of the southern states. His adaptation of Tarzan was first produced in 2009. Ongoing scholarly interests include disability theory, Shakespearean fools and clowns, and modern/postmodern works of art and literature.
