Jeaniffere Vila

Adjunct Associate Professor
English & Humanities
 Knapp Hall, room 20

  • M.A., New York University
  • B.A., M.A. New York University
  • ABA-Certified, Queens College (Paralegal Studies)

Professor Vila's passion for teaching took her away from a career in law after working as a Certified Paralegal in several NYC law firms. Instead of pursuing law school after receiving her B.A. from NYU, Professor Vila decided to continue at NYU's Steinhardt School of Education to further her studies in Speech and Interpersonal Communications. Professor Vila believes that the secret to education is in respecting the student: "The most humbling discovery is that, through their speeches, I've learned that each student has a story. Some have lost siblings, parents, loved ones -- some have overcome incredible adversity. And the transition from high school to college can be difficult for some. My job is to recognize that and work with each respective student as not just a 'student' but as a human being." When Professor Vila is not teaching, she likes to travel with her family.
