Civic Discourse Interdisciplinary Learning Labs
The high-impact civic discourse interdisciplinary learning lab pairs two courses from different disciplines for one joint session during the semester, held during their regular class time. The goal is to foster civic discourse, interdisciplinary dialogue, and collaborative problem-solving. This aligns with the civic engagement and discourse framework supported by Office of Community and Civic Engagement, CDISI and SUNY Civic Education.
Two pilot courses are scheduled for April 6 and April 8. The first course will be on AI and Health and will examine the role of artificial intelligence in laboratory analysis, medical diagnostics, and ethical decision-making in healthcare. The second course will be on the Privatization of Parole and will engage students in a structured civic discourse learning lab focused on the ethical, policy, and equity implications of parole privatization.
