Eleanor Fapohunda Colloquium Series

Dr. Douglas Johnston, "Measuring Climate Risk."

In this talk, Dr. Johnston will introduce the audience to the statistical analysis of extreme events and its application to climate risk assessment. Extreme climate events, such as extreme precipitation, have important implications in many fields including civil engineering where public infrastructure design and human health are important considerations.  Dr. Johnston will discuss the science behind extreme value analysis and present his recent research applying a Bayesian framework to the problem.
