Writing Learning Objectives

Whether you’re revamping an existing course or designing a new course, specific and well-written objectives are key: not only do they inform students’ expectations of the knowledge and skills they can expect to gain in the course, they assist instructors in aligning assessment with course content. By the end of this session, attendees will be able to describe the purpose and value of learning objectives; distinguish between global, educational, and instructional goals: construct learning objectives utilizing the cognitive and knowledge dimensions of Bloom’s Revised taxonomy.
