Q. I have been very busy and missed the deadline for filing the intent to graduate form, can I still participate in the Winter Commencement ceremony?

A. If you did not file by the deadline of November 20,  2014 you will have to wait for the May ceremony.

Q.  I received my diploma in the summer and would like to participate in the Winter Commencement ceremony.

A. The Winter Commencement ceremony is meant for those students who filed the intent to graduate form during the fall semester. Their names will be included in the ceremony brochure. If you completed your studies during the summer, you are invited to attend the May ceremony and your name will be included in the Commencement Program.

Q. Must I have a cap and gown to participate in the Winter Commencement ceremony?

A. Yes, you must have a cap and gown to participate. Caps and gowns will be available for purchase at the bookstore on November 15 and later. Visit the Barnes and Noble Bookstore. If you are unable to make it into the bookstore, please contact them to make other arrangements.

Q. When will the ceremony tickets be distributed?

A. The tickets will be distributed on Monday - Friday, December 8 - 19 from 10:00 AM to 4:00 PM in Laffin Hall 314. Approximately 8 tickets will be available per student. There will probably be extra tickets and if you need more, please ask when you pick up your 8 tickets.

Q.  Can I get more than 8 tickets for the ceremony?

A. The number of tickets that will be distributed is determined by the room capacity of Nold Hall as well as by the number of students who have filed intent to graduate forms and indicate that they will attend the ceremony.  In past years, due to the very nature of the Winter Commencement, almost all students have been able to obtain many  extra tickets. Extra tickets (if any) will be distributed during the week of December 15 from 10-4 in the Dean of Student's office. 

Q.  How long is the ceremony?

A. The Winter Commencement ceremony usually takes about one to one and a half hours. The length is usually influenced by the number of students attending the graduation.

Q.  One of my guests has special seating needs because of a disability.  How can I arrange for appropriate seating?

A.  Please send an email to stating your name, and the name of your guest who needs special seating.

Q. Must I attend the pre-ceremony instructions at 10:30 AM December 20 in Nold Hall?

 A. Yes. Your guests are not permitted in the gym during this rehearsal.

Q. Will my picture be taken at the ceremony?

A. Yes, your picture will be taken by a professional photographer and will be available for purchase in late January.

Q. What if the College is closed because of bad weather the day of Commencement?

A. The snow date is Sunday, December 21, 2014 at the same times for the rehearsal and ceremony. Please check the College's home page on the web for any emergency closings or instructions in the event of bad weather.

Q. What do I do with my coat?

A. A coat room will be available for students only.

Q. If I attend Winter Commencement, can I attend Spring Commencement?

A. Due to space limitations, those attending Winter Commencement may NOT attend Spring Commencement.
