Meet the Orientation Leaders!





Year: Junior
Major: Nursing

About Di-Andra: 

Di-Andra is an Advanced Standing Bachelor of Science Nursing student with a minor in Women, Gender, and Sexuality.  She is excited to return as an Orientation Leader this summer and plans to continue to have a great time.  She is entering her junior year of college and enjoys living on campus.  She is a Resident Assistant here at Farmingdale and is also a pet of Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society.  One day she wishes to be a member of the sorority Delta Sigma Theta.  Di-Andra really looks forward to meeting the new students and helping with their transition to college life.

About Jermaine: 

Jermaine is a resident student of Farmingdale State and has become an active member at the college since his arrival. The Brooklyn native has been a Resident Assistant, Orientation Leader, Building Manager has also helped in and is a member of the Educational Opportunity Program and is a Computer information systems major. Jermaine plays a very active role on the campus community and although he is technically inclined he understands people and life.

Major: Applied Psychology

About Joy: 

Joy lives in Port Jefferson Station, NY. She is a recent graduate with a bachelors in science degree in Applied Psychology with a concentration in Industrial Organizational Psychology. Joy was very involved in campus life serving as a resident assistant, vice president of student government, founding member of Sigma Delta Tau Sorority, and won the SUNY Chancellor’s award for student excellence. Joy is planning on attending Baruch College in NYC and becoming an Industrial Organizational Psychologist.

About Justin: 

Justin’s hometown is Jamaica, Queens. He is currently majoring in Computer Science and participates in various clubs and activities at Farmingdale State College. He is a member of the Basketball team, STEP/CSTEP program, and anime club. He also works for Campus Recreation and is a Resident Assistant in the Residence Halls. After he graduates he would like to be a programmer for Apple.

Major: Computer Engineering & Electrical Engineering (dual major) 

About Justin: 

Justin is currently studying Computer Engineering Technology and Electrical Engineering Technology. He enjoys listening to progressive metal music, watching hockey, and customizing/fixing computers. This is his third year as an Orientation Leader and he hopes to help students become more open-minded and accepting of people different from what they are used to.

Major: Visual Communications

About Katherine: 

Katherine’s hometown is Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic. She’s best known by her friends by her second name: Zuzzette. She is a Senior who majors in Visual Communications and works for the FSC International department as a graphic designer and photographer. She is a member of The Golden Key International Honour Society and is also recognized for earning a spot on the President's list. Katherine is a fluent Bi-lingual speaker and would like to work with students in helping them transition to the college settings. After she graduates she plans to acquire an MBA on International Marketing Management.

About Lisa: 

Lisa's hometown is in Plainview, NY. She is majoring in Professional Communications with a minor in Business Management and is very active on campus. Lisa is going into her Junior year with an anticipation of graduating in the Spring of 2016. Lisa is President of the campus Radio Station which is called Ram Nation Radio, she is a Rambassador for the campus, which is a tour guide for prospective students, she is also a member of the Golden Key International Honor Society. In addition she is a Resident Assistant, Senator of the Arts and Sciences Department for student Government and is a student assistant at the Career Development Center.

About Messiah: 

Messiah was born in Brooklyn, New York. He has graduated from Farmingdale state college with a bachelor in computer programming and information systems. He is a member of the computer technology club and the vice president of DiGamma Xi Inc. and likes to give back to the community. Since he has graduated college he is setting his sights on becoming a teacher as soon as possible in the hopes that he can spread knowledge and gives a positive outlook on the future for the younger generations.

About Norman: 

Norman is 22 years old from Brooklyn New York. He is a recent graduate from the Electrical Engineering Technology and Computer Engineering Technology program. He was a Resident Assistant and the treasurer for the IEEE Student Club and the Quality Club. Norman was the recipient of the Dominic A. Murray 21 Memorial Scholarship and the E. Norman Lurch Memorial Scholarship. He enjoys playing football and basketball, and bicycle riding, and making fantastic creations with LEGOs.

About Penelope: 

Penelope's hometown is Santiago, Dominican Republic. She majors in Applied Psychology and minors in Sociology. She participates in a wide number of activities both on and off campus, which have helped her improve and develop her leadership skills. She is a member of the Track and Field Team, Psi Chi Honor Society, Golden Key Honor Society, the Student Government Association, the Psychology Club, as well as the Latin American Student Organization and SUNY Student Assembly. Moreover, she has worked on campus as a Student Assistant and a Spanish Tutor. After she graduates, Penelope would like to continue studying psychology at a graduate level.

About Rafael: 

Rafael is an international student from Dominican Republic. He is currently a sophomore going for a degree in Visual Communications- Graphic Design. He is a Senator for the School of Business in the Student Government Association and president of Focus Photography Club. He is also a proud member of Backstage Theatre Company. Once he graduates he wants to be a major fashion photographer and backpack through Europe.

Major: Science, Technology, & Society

About Samson: 

Samson’s hometown is Springfield Gardens, NY. He majors in Science, Technology, & Society and is very involved on campus. He is a member of the Farmingdale State basketball team and was also captain of the team for the 2013-14 season. Samson also works on campus with intramural sports and has been a Resident Assistant for the past year. After he graduates, Samson would like to attended grad school and study physical therapy.

About Scott: 

Scott is a senior in the Science, Technology, and Society Bachelor Program with a concentration in Sociology. Once he graduates, he would like to attend graduate school to get his M.S.W. Scott is affiliated with the A.S.A.P program here at Farmingdale. He has worked on campus as work study for the Transfer Service Department and a chaperone for the Smart Scholar program. Scott was a member and founder of the Flag Football Club as well as Men In Action, in which he is the president.

About Tasmy: 

Tasmy is from Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic. She made it to FSC after winning a full scholarship in her country to finish her studies. She majors in Professional Communications and minors in Sociology and in Women, Gender and Sexuality studies. She will be a Resident Assistant for International Students in Fall 2014 and the vice-president of the LGBT Club on campus. After she graduates, Tasmy would like to apply to a doctoral program in Sociology and become a college professor.
