Do it Yourself Cosmetics (D.I.Y.)
November 6, 2017

One of our very own Farmingdale students, Zane Smith, who is a Professional Communications major with a minor in Business Management, is one of the returning participants in the New York State Business Plan Competition. Last year he had learned of the competition and decided that he was going to compete. His idea was new and budding, he was studying his market and his competitors before he started in the competition. Once the competition began it gave Zane a better understanding of the business side of his product, his competitors, and understanding the terms and outline of the business he was trying to build. Last year he won the $2,000 Alumni grant competition.

This year he comes back to the competition with his business plan for D.I.Y Cosmetics. D.I.Y. Cosmetics focuses on organic and personal natural cosmetics. This means that D. I.Y. which stands for Do It Yourself focuses on customizable cosmetics specially made for that individual. Some of the products are sugar and salt scrubs, soaks, Milk baths, Bath bombs, lip Scrubs, Body butter and much more. Zane is still in the developing stages of his business, currently looking for a website developer to increase his internet presence and boost his social media platforms on Instagram and Facebook which you can follow at @d.i.y.cosmetics. The School of Business is very excited for Zane to participate in the New York State Business Plan Competition and can't wait to see how successful D.I.Y Cosmetics becomes.
