BCS Laptop Program

In accord with Farmingdale State University's mission as a College of Technology, and in alignment with the goals of the department, the Computer Systems Department believes that it is appropriate for students in the Computer Programming and Information Systems baccalaureate program to possess a modern laptop computer with all of the software needed for their coursework.

All first-time freshmen entering the bachelors program will be required to purchase or lease a laptop computer. Students will benefit from the any place, any time availability of their laptop. They can use their laptops in their dorm rooms, at home, and at many wirelessly linked areas on campus such as the Library and First Stop Cafe. Students in the Computer Programming and Information Systems program will participate in special laptop-only classes.
