The President's CARES Award was created to award those members of the Farmingdale State community who consistently go beyond the call of duty to make Farmingdale a better place for us and for students. CARES stands for "Commendation and Recognition for Exceptional Service." It will be given annually at Spring Convocation to one faculty member, one professional staff member and one classified staff member.
This award recognizes efforts and achievements that demonstrate an exemplary commitment to the college community, service beyond what is considered a normal part of one's job description, and an attitude of caring and selflessness. This includes outstanding customer service to students, prospective students and families, excellence in ethics, encouraging an environment of cooperation, teamwork and fairness, a pursuit of excellence and quality.
All nominations will be reviewed by the Selection Committee which recommends candidates to the President. The Selection Committee is comprised of at least nine members, including previous CARES Award winners as well as members selected to provide a broad representation from within the college. Committee members will serve for two years. I thank them for agreeing to serve in this capacity.
"CARES" Award winners will receive recognition at Convocation, Farmingdale State gifts, recognition on the college website, and in the Campus Times along with a cash award of $200.
Materials explaining the award and a nominating form are available from my office and on the website under the president's page. I hope that you all take a moment to consider who you would most like to receive such a distinction.
