Smart Energy House

The Smart Energy House at Farmingdale State College appropriately earned its name by installing  equipment that maintains efficiency, sustainability and smart energy.  Equipment installed in the 2,000 square foot, three bedroom home include a smart meter to control appliances remotely, solar energy solar hot water and soon to be installed hydrogen fuel cell for power on inclement weather days.  Other features of the house include automated Venetian blinds controlled by sunlight and temperature, a charging station for an electric car, 20 solar panels, a “Wiser” system that controls equipment to conserve energy, smart plugs and programmable thermostats.  The house is the latest in Farmingdale’s ongoing commitment to being a "green" campus.  To register for a tour, call Farmingdale State College 631-794-6175 or use below registration form.
