What do the credits mean to me as a Farmingdale State student?
If you were a first or second year matriculated student (accepted into a degree program)
during the applicable academic year and you took at least six credits during any of the semesters, you pass the initial test of eligibility for the Hope Scholarship credit.
You would then have to meet the other requirements for eligibility in order to claim the credit.
All other individuals - non matriculated, matriculated juniors & seniors, continuing education and less than half time matriculated students - are eligible only for the Lifetime Learning credit.
Your Responsibilty as a Taxpayer: By creating this informational resource page, Farmingdale State has attempted to convey to our students the most comprehensive summary of the data needed for completion of your tax returns. The College cannot determine if you qualify for one of these tax credits or the amount of credit that may be due. We suggest that you order the necessary tax forms if you intend to complete your own return or consult a tax advisor. Because the College cannot be in the position of offering tax advice, we request that you do not call the College for any further information than is offered on this web page.
