Farmingdale State, in partnership with Winthrop University Hospital, has developed a means by which the severe lack of qualified personnel in the nursing profession can begin to be resolved.

As Winthrop University Hospital experienced a critical shortage of nurses, and as Farmingdale State had a very successful Department of Nursing in its School of Health Sciences, it was decided that Farmingdale could expand its program by approximately 30 additional students per year if Winthrop could build one new teaching laboratory, and provide the means by which the college could hire two additional full-time and two part-time professors to teach the 30 new students who could be brought into the program.

As a result of this arrangement, Winthrop would be able to hire 30 additional nurses graduating from the Farmingdale program annually. This agreement was reached by George Rainer, Vice President of Human Resources at Winthrop, and Dr. Henry Sikorski, Vice President for Institutional Advancement at Farmingdale State in 2004, and the photographs below highlight the result!
