Alumni & Friends Brewery Tour 2009.

The cars lined up ready to go on our Brewery Tour adventure. Our first stop was the famous Southampton Publick House where we enjoyed an array of brews and lagers. A favorite was their Pumpkin Ale, a flavorful, robust fall selection. Another seasonal brew, their chocolate inspired Imperial Porter was a preference chosen by our crowd. Their varied other brews were also a hit and everyone left with 6 packs of their personal favorites. Our thanks to Brewmaster Phil Markowski and manager Donald Sullivan for their hospitality.

From there we headed west to Blue Point Brewery, located in Patchogue. Their laid back bar atmosphere was relaxed and friendly. We were joined there by other patrons sampling their selections. People left with cases of beer and everyone had a good time.

We then headed northwest to John Harvard’s, located in Lake Grove. Here we sampled their seasonal selections and again found their Pumpkin Beer, laced with cinnamon sugar, a nice sweet flavorful taste, to be a crowd favorite. We also enjoyed a luncheon where everyone raved about the food. They have an incredible lobster bisque that is impeccable.

We never made it to our intended final destination of Black Forest Brew Haus. It is conveniently located in Farmingdale, close to our campus, so we decided we would stop there during their month long Oktoberfest celebration.
