Farmingdale State College To Offer BS In Global Business Management

New Program Prepares Students for International Careers

June 23, 2014

A new BS in Global Business Management will be launched by Farmingdale State College for the 2014-2015 academic year.

The new program, offered by the Department of Business Management in the School of Business, has been created to prepare students for the growing and evolving field of global business.  Key aspects of international business – such as management, marketing, international human resources, finance, information technology, and legal systems – will be paired with a broad offering of liberal arts and sciences courses.

“The new degree in Global Business Management is needed so that our graduates can work effectively in the global economy,” said Dr. Richard Vogel, dean of the School of Business.  “The program is built with flexibility and focus so that students can tailor their studies to their interests and the needs of the international business community.”

One of the key features of the program will be a focus on foreign language and area-studies courses.  Study outside the United States will be strongly encouraged.

Students will be prepared for employment opportunities such as International Human Resources Management, International Marketing and Advertising, Global Strategic Planning Management, International Logistics, and International Supply Chain Management.

A new $26.7 million building for the School of Business is expected to open during the 2014-15 academic year to the benefit of the more than 2,000 students enrolled in degrees in business, graphic design, urban horticulture, economics, sport management and computer systems. Programs in the School of Business are designed to prepare students for a wide choice of business, entrepreneurial, and managerial careers.
