Farmingdale State College Stays True to Energy Sustainability Roots
DETAILS: Designed to appeal to a broad spectrum of interested participants, all are welcome to learn about energy-related topics and how to save money on energy bills. Panels and keynote presentations will appeal to students/researchers, international individuals or corporations, interested academics, business representatives and home owners.
Those presenting include: Bob Catell who has served on the Board of the National Grid since September 2007 as executive director and deputy chairman; Yakov Shamash, vice president for economic development and dean of the College of Engineering and Applied Sciences at Stony Brook University; Gordian Raacke, founder and executive director of Renewable Energy Long Island (RELI); and Brookhaven National Lab’s James Misewich, Associate Laboratory Director for Basic Energy Sciences.
Other presenters will includeNew York State legislators, representatives from federal energy-related agencies, power authorities, energy and green building-related firms and academia on the topics of renewable energy, alternative energy, smart grid, sustainability vehicles and energy storage.
The IESC 2012 will provide a great opportunity to gain an up-to-date perspective on the state of the Smart Grid, including emerging technologies and how they will affect the industry, policy developments, programs and incentives as well as the effects upgrades to the grid will have on energy efficiency, distributed generation of alternative energy sources, sustainability, green building practices, and green data centers.
The conference is designed to prepare participants to face the challenges ahead as well as finding and integrating sustainable alternative energy sources in a world with diminishing resources, while maintaining and ensuring energy security.
