Dr. Eugenio Villareal Is Promoted At Farmingdale State
Becomes Associate Professor in the College's Modern Languages Department
Dr. Eugenio Villarreal has been promoted from assistant professor to associate professor in the modern languages department at Farmingdale State College. He joined the faculty in 1999 as an assistant professor.
A resident of Huntington Station, Dr. Villarreal earned his PhD at the University at Albany. He holds an MA from Washington State University, and a BA (Licenciatura) in applied linguistics from the Universidad Autonoma de Nuevo Leon in Monterrey, Mexico.
Farmingdale State's modern languages department is part of the College's Liberal Arts and Sciences program, which enrolls more than 2,500 students. The department offers a variety of courses in German, French, Italian and Spanish as well elective language courses for careers in business, health and more. The department also offers several culture courses given in English, as well as a Spanish course for native speakers. The department's faculty members include recipients of a Fulbright Scholar Award, the Chancellor's Award for Excellence in Teaching, the Nuala Drescher Award, and several NYS/UUP Excellence Awards.
