President Keen was honored on Rev. Martin Luther King Day at the Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Leadership Awards Breakfast which honors community and business leaders for their outstanding public service. Dr. Keen was one of 11 honorees at the event where Hazel N. Dukes, President of the New York State Conference of NAACP branches, delivered the keynote address.

"Dr. King was an extraordinary individual," Dr. Keen said. "He embodied the highest principles of dignity, humanitarian service, and non-violence. Those principles live on today because of his legacy."

Since Dr. Keen became President of the College, applications and enrollment have increased, academic programs have been expanded, and new partnerships with businesses have been developed. Farmingdale also operates a Liberty Partnership program to provide assistance to socioeconomically disadvantaged high school students.
