In honor of Veterans' Day 2010, the SADHA (Student American Dental Hygienists Association) student club created oral hygiene care kits to be sent to marines stationed in Afghanistan.

Approximately 50 people gathered to prepare the kits for shipment to the 3rd Battalion 10th Marines.  Each kit contained a note of encouragement from a member of the department. More than 850 kits have been collected.

The motivation for this effort came from one of the dental hygiene professors.  Her son-in-law has recently returned from Iraq and told her about the young marines in Afghanistan.  He indicated that the soldiers would appreciate support from support from home.  The students decided to take action in order to Give a Marine a Smile.
