Alan Hlavenka Joins Farmingdale State
Department of Instructional Technologies Support Welcomes Audio VisualSystems Technician
Alan Hlavenka has joined the Farmingdale State College Department of Instructional Technologies Support as an Audio Visual Systems Technician.
From 2000 to 2008, Hlavenka held the position of Audio Visual Technician at Hewlett-Woodmere Union Free School District in Woodmere, NY, where he was charged with coordination, purchasing, operation, and maintenance of the school district's audio and visual equipment. At the Hewlett-Woodmere district, Hlavenka was in charge of the high school student closed circuit television station. He worked with student to produce and broadcast a daily television show. In addition, he videotaped, edited, read voiceovers and programmed DVDs for public relations initiatives. He further supported public relations effort by taking photos.
Prior to Hewlett-Woodmere, he was an Audio Visual Technician at the Stony Brook University's Health Science Center. His nearly 15 years of experience in the audio visual field also includes positions at Good Samaritan Hospital Medical Center and Garvan Communications. Hlavenka spent nine years as a freelance photographer for clients as diverse as Newsday and St. Francis Hospital doing public relations, news and sports photographs.
A Seaford resident, Hlavenka holds a BS degree in Business Administration from the College at Old Westbury, a campus of the State University of New York. He earned an AA degree in Communications from Nassau Community College.
