Uma Balaji Joins Farmingdale State
Electrical Engineering Department Welcomes New Assistant Professor
Uma BalajiDr. Uma Balaji has joined Farmingdale State College as an assistant professor in the electrical engineering technology department. Dr. Balaji's research focuses on designing waveguide components in antenna feed systems in modern satellite and terrestrial communication systems.
A resident of Floral Park, Balaji received her Doctor of Philosophy in 1997 in electrical engineering at the University of Victoria, in British Columbia, Canada. While at the University of Victoria, she received the President's Research Award for four consecutive years. Balaji holds an MS in engineering in communication systems from Anna University in Madras, India. She also holds a BS in engineering in electronics and communication.
Farmingdale State's electrical engineering technology department is part of the School of Engineering Technology, which enrolls nearly 1,000 students. The department offers a Bachelor of Science degree designed to meet the transfer and continuing education needs of students with Associate Degrees in electrical engineering technology or related disciplines.
