123 pints and 30 deferrals were collected
This year Farmingdale State held the campus' best spring blood drive yet, with 123 pints and 30 deferrals. Long Island Blood Services Manager Sue Lingfelter thanked FSC and said "I was extremely pleased with the results of 123 donations. This was a record breaking spring drive, almost triple the number of donations in spring 2006, and more than a 50 per cent increase from last spring's drive. Everyone worked very hard. Just think of all the lives you have saved!"
The need was even more critical this year since a member of the campus community has been diagnosed with a cute myelogenous leukemia, the most common type of leukemia. In addition to securing blood and platelets so critically needed, the drive provided an opportunity for bone marrow testing, thanks to the cooperation of LI Blood Services.
Raffle prizes were donated by Aramark, Barnes and Noble, Department of Athletics, Auxiliary Service Corporation, CSEA, Houlihan's, Starbuck's, Chili's, Applebee's, Changing Times Pub, and University Pizza.
