New Engineering Dean at Farmingdale State College
Dr. W. Hubert Keen has announced the appointment of the new Dean of the School of Engineering Technologies at Farmingdale State College, Dr. Kamal Shahrabi . Dr. Shahrabi of Farmingdale and Nashanic Station, NJ , is an experienced administrator who most recently served as chairperson and professor in the Department of Technology at Kean University in Union , NJ .
Since 1987, Dr. Shahrabi has taught at several colleges in the region, as well as having served as chief consultant for development of an engineering program for the Department of Higher Education in Malaysia .
He has received grants totaling $4.4 million through NSF and the Challenge Grant and has published extensively, especially in the area of computer aided technology and learning systems. Another area of his special research is Fast Algorithms for Super Computers (Discrete Fourier Transform and Convolution).
Dr. Shahrabi's most recent paper is on applied relativity in modern engineering and metallurgy. More than 20 of his papers have been accepted for scholarly conferences. He has published seven books, lab manuals or handbooks, including books on communication and digital signal processing.
