Dr. W. Hubert Keen , president of Farmingdale State College, is pleased to announce that Dr. Dan Marrone , professor of business/management of technology received "The American Legion Citation of Appreciation." The award was presented by the Nassau County American Legion, in recognition of Dr. Marrone's participation in the American Legion "Oratorical Contest on the American Constitution."

In 2005 and 2006, he served as a coach for a high school student who was a contestant.  As an American history buff, he helped the student research information on the origins and importance of the U.S. Constitution, the Bill of Rights, and the Federalist papers.

In light of Dr. Marrone's former service and passion for history, Mayor Angel Soto of South Floral Park Village , NY , who is also Chair of the American Legion Oratorical Contest, appointed Dr. Marrone a contest judge. After the contest, which was held at the American Legion Post in Malverne, Mayor Soto spoke to the audience concerning Dr. Marrone's other awards and his nearly 20 years service at Farmingdale State College. He was then given the "Citation of Appreciation."
