Farmingdale State College Business Administration Student Awarded Scholarship
On March 21, 2007, the Farmingdale Foundation and Alumni Association Student Scholarship Reception was held in Roosevelt Hall's Multi-Purpose Room at Farmingdale State College. Over $84,000 worth of scholarship money was awarded to 57 students at the reception. Farmingdale State College President Dr. W. Hubert Keen is pleased to announce that Pearl Degen is this year's recipient of the Helen S. Albrecht Memorial Scholarship.
Ms. Degen, a Lindenhurst resident, is a Business Administration student. She is a member of Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society and has been a math tutor for several years.
Helen S. Albrecht was a long-time Farmingdale resident who passed away in September 1997. Her parents Charles O. and Jesse Schmidt owned Schmidt Hardware on Main Street in Farmingdale. Mrs. Albrecht's family chose to honor her memory and commitment to higher education as well as Farmingdale State by establishing this scholarship.
The Farmingdale College Foundation is a not-for-profit corporation that provides financial assistance in advancing the purposes and development of the College. The Foundation provides scholarships, faculty development grants, and support of programs and projects that are not funded by the State budget. The Alumni Association is a not-for-profit corporation which provides a positive link between graduates and the College.
