Farmingdale State College Degrees Granted Full ABET Accreditation
Dr. W. Hubert Keen, president of Farmingdale State College, is pleased to announce that all programs submitted on behalf of the College to ABET (Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology) were granted full accreditation. According to Professor Socrates Thanasas, who coordinated the ABET accreditation visit, "Students should be aware that graduating from an ABET accredited program is an important advantage since employers know that a very high level of educational excellence has been achieved."
Programs accredited by ABET are:
- Architectural Engineering Technology-BS
- Mechanical Engineering Technology-BS
- Computer Engineering Technology-BS
- Construction Management Engineering Technology-BS
- Electrical Engineering Technology-BS
- Manufacturing Engineering Technology-BS
- Mechanical Engineering Technology-AAS
Preparation for an ABET review is an important process for a college and provides validation of the quality of education being offered. ABET is the recognized accreditor for college and university programs in applied science, computing, engineering, and technology, and is a federation of 28 professional and technical societies representing these fields. Among the most respected accreditation organizations in the U.S., ABET has provided leadership and quality assurance in higher education for over 70 years.
