5th Annual Health and Wellness Fair
The Farmingdale State College's 5th Annual Health and Wellness Fair will be held on Thursday, April 12 in the Roosevelt Hall Multi-Purpose Room between 11:00 AM - 5:00 PM. The event is free and open to the public.
The Health and Wellness Center believes in a holistic approach to health. Wellness defined by this approach is a healthy balance of the mind, body, spirit, emotions and environment that results in an overall feeling of well-being.
The interdependence of humans with animals and nature will be demonstrated by two shows. A special presentation of AN INCONVENIENT TRUTH featuring Al Gore, will be shown in Roosevelt Hall's Little Theatre at noon. Directed by Davis Guggenheim, AN INCONVENIENT TRUTH ultimately brings home Gore's persuasive argument that we can no longer afford to view global warming as a political issue - rather, it is the biggest moral challenge facing our global civilization.
The movie will be followed by a more joyful presentation, a live Reptile Show from 2:30 - 3:30 PM. The exhibit will be a fun and educational demonstration of how interaction with other living things can promote health.
This year's Health & Wellness Fair is expected to be even more successful than last, which featured more than 90 vendors and health care professionals from Long Island and the greater New York area. Participants will be on hand to answer questions and provide information about available health and wellness services. Vendors will offer health screenings including blood pressure, glucose and cholesterol testing. Chair massages, chiropractic consults, dental care, and many other services will also be available.
