Farmingdale State Student Awarded Two Scholarships for Architectural Technology
Thomas Miller, an East Hampton resident, is this year's recipient of both the Charles O. Schmidt Memorial Scholarship and the Gelina & McClees Scholarship presented at The Farmingdale Foundation and Alumni Association Student Scholarship Reception. Dr. Jonathan Gibralter, the president of Farmingdale State University of New York was pleased to present both scholarships at the reception held on March 15, 2006. Over $76,000 worth of scholarship money was awarded to 48 students at the reception.
Mr. Miller, a graduate of East Hampton High School, is a sophomore in Farmingdale State's department of Architecture and Construction Management, studying architectural technology. He plays baseball for the Farmingdale State Rams. In addition, Mr. Miller is a member of the Kiwanis Club, an organization dedicated to children and improving quality of life in the community. Mr. Miller has consistently earned recognition on the President's List.
The Charles O. Schmidt Memorial Scholarship was established in 1994 by Mr. Schmidt's family who chose to honor his memory through this scholarship. Charles O. Schmidt was a long time Farmingdale resident who owned Schmidt Hardware on Main Street, with his wife, Jesse. The Gelina & McClees Scholarship is awarded to students enrolled in Architectural Engineering.
