Rewa Thompson Joins Farmingdale State College Faculty
Mr. George P. LaRosa , Officer-in-Charge at Farmingdale State College, welcomes Rewa Thompson as an assistant professor in the Nursing department.
Professor Thompson, a Roosevelt resident, has taught part time at Farmingdale State since August 2005. As an assistant professor, she will use her expertise in women's health care to present skilled clinical nursing instruction to practical nursing students.
In 1994, Thompson began her career as a registered nurse at South Nassau Communities Hospital . Additionally, Thompson has worked as a women's health nurse practitioner at Planned Parenthood of Nassau County. She provided health assessment, examinations and treatment for family planning, prenatal, abortion and STI (Sexually Transmitted Infection) clients. Thompson has also worked for Visiting Nurse Association of Long Island, Inc. as a maternal / child home care consultant and field nurse. Her home visits to antepartum / postpartum clients included performing newborn assessments, education to promote optimal health of mother and infant, and referrals for maternal-child resources when necessary.
Thompson graduated with a BS in Nursing from Adelphi University . She earned her MS in Nursing from Stony Brook University .
