Farmingdale State Department of Ornamental Horticulture Wins First Place at Flower Show
Dr. Jonathan Gibralter, president of Farmingdale State University of New York, is pleased to announce that the faculty, staff and students of Department of Ornamental Horticulture won first place in the Garden Design competition at the 2006 (5th annual) Hofstra Arboretum Flower & Garden Show. This recognition also includes a cash prize of $2,000.
The winning garden design was the result of collaboration by Professors Paul Fogelberg and Dr. Richard Iversen, and the gardener, Kevin Daly. The installation of the garden was done by horticulture students under the guidance of faculty and staff.
"The generous support from the community helped promote the success of the garden installation." Dr. Gary Brown, chairman of the Department of Ornamental Horticulture, said of the financial support and materials that were donated by local businesses including:
