School of Engineering Technologies' Students Receive

On April 28, 2006, students gathered with their families, friends and professors in Farmingdale State University of New York's Little Theater for the Student Awards for Academic Excellence Ceremony.

Dr. Jonathan Gibralter, president of Farmingdale State, and Dr. Hubert Keen, provost and vice president of Academic Affairs, both spoke about how proud they were of the students and their superior academic achievement. "The Awards for Academic Excellence honor the very highest levels of academic excellence in the institution. The Student Award for Academic Excellence is presented annually to two students in each curriculum with the highest grade point average in their entire record at Farmingdale State." said Dr. Hubert Keen.

Student Awards for Academic Excellence – School of Engineering Technologies

Aleksandra Drys, a Brooklyn resident, received the Student Award for Academic Excellence in Aeronautical Science: Professional Pilot. Aleksandra is earned her pilot's license.

Steven Edwards, a Williamsville resident, is the recipient of the Student Award for Academic Excellence in Aeronautical Science: Professional Pilot. Steven earned an A.A.S. from Jamestown Community College. He earned his Flight Instructor Certificate. In addition, Steven is graduating with a perfect GPA.

Deepak Kumar, a Queens Village resident, received the Student Award for Academic Excellence in Manufacturing Engineering Technology. Deepak attended high school in New Delhi, India and earned a B.S. from Farmingdale State.

Douglas Gallucio, an Amityville resident, received the Award for Academic Excellence in Construction Management Engineering Technology. Douglas graduated from Suffolk County Community College in 1981 with an A.A.S. in Civil Engineering. He earned his Bachelor of Science in Construction Management and graduated Valedictorian of his class.

Mariusz Czaplicki, an Amityville resident, was the recipient of the Award for Academic Excellence in Automotive Engineering Technology. Mariusz is a member of American Technology Alliances (AMTECH), and the Society of Automotive Plant Managers. His superior academic achievement earned Mariusz inclusion in the President's list.

Neville Perkins, a Brentwood resident, received the Award for Academic Excellence in Mechanical Engineering Technology. Neville was one of three students selected to participate in the FAST Fuel Cell program.

Mark DiRenzo, an East Meadow resident, is the recipient of the Student Award for Academic Excellence in Aviation Administration. Mark is a Nassau County Firefighter and EMT. He earned a pilot's license from Nassau Tech Aviation Academy. Mark will graduate with a B. S. in Aviation Administration.

Timothy R. Conry, a Westbury resident, received the Student Award for Academic Excellence in Facility Management Technology. Timothy graduated from Queens College and served as a U.S. Army Reservist from 1972- 1977. A Central Islip resident, Ralph Kowalczyk, was the recipient of the Award for Academic Excellence in Architectural Technology. Ralph's academic performance earned him inclusion on both the Dean's list and the President's list. In addition, he was awarded the Raymond Von Deeston Memorial Scholarship.

Rephael Zvulon, a Centereach resident, was the recipient of the Award for Academic Excellence in Automotive Management Technology. Rephael's superior GPA earned him inclusion on the President's list. He is a member of the Finance and Accounting Society.

Islip resident, Jason Yabsley received the Award for Academic Excellence in Automotive Engineering Technology.

John Montillo, a Selden resident, was given the Award for Academic Excellence in Computer Engineering Technology.

Christopher Goodrow, a Smithtown resident, was the recipient of the Award for Academic Excellence in Electrical Engineering Technology.

West Islip resident, Gary Nasta received the Award for Academic Excellence in Facility Management Technology. Gary earned his A.A. from Suffolk Community College.

A Centereach resident, William Gash received the Award for Academic Excellence in Mechanical Technology. William is a graduate of West Islip High School. He received his A.S. Degree from Daytona Beach Community College in Computer aided drafting and design. He earned his B.S. in Manufacturing Engineering.

Mark Joseph Slavin, a Huntington Station resident, was the recipient of the Award for Academic Excellence in Mechanical Technology. Mark is a member of American Society of Heating, Refrigerator and Air Conditioner Engineering (ASHRAE). He is the graduate of Naval Nuclear Engineering School graduate and received both the Wall of Honor and Charles O. Schmidt scholarships.

Elizabeth Hook, a Copiague resident, was the recipient of the Award for Academic Excellence in Dental Hygiene. Elizabeth received the Sigma Phi Alpha scholarship.

Mindy Lawrence, an Islip resident, was the recipient of the Award for Academic Excellence in Nursing. Mindy earned her B.A. in Psychology from Hofstra University. After many years she returned to study Nursing at Farmingdale State. She is a member of the Phi Theta Kappa Nurses Association and is Co-president of the Student Nurses Association. Mindy has maintained a perfect GPA.

Eric Motsch, a Rockville Center resident, is the recipient of the Student Award for Academic Excellence in Construction Management Engineering Technology. Eric is a member of the American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE).

Robert Epifania, a Hicksville resident, is the recipient of the Student Award for Academic Excellence in Automotive Management Technology. Robert is a member of Alpha Beta Gamma National Honor Society. In his final semester, Robert received a perfect GPA, earning him inclusion on the President's list.

Sasha-lee Dawes, a West Babylon resident, is the recipient of the Student Award for Academic Excellence in Aviation Administration. Sasha-lee is a member of Phi Theta Kappa, Alpha Beta Gamma and Sigma Beta Delta Honor Societies. She received the Chancellor's Award for Student Excellence in 2004. She earned her A.S. in Business Administration. Sasha-lee was Valedictorian of the class of 2006 earning her B.S. in Management Technology. She will earn a B.S. in Aviation Administration in January, 2006.
