Dr. Adam Filios Joins Farmingdale State College Faculty
Mr. George P. LaRosa , Officer-in-Charge at Farmingdale State College, welcomes Dr. Adam Filios as an assistant professor in the Department of Electrical Engineering Technology.
Dr. Filios, a Central Islip resident, joins the Farmingdale State faculty with over eight years experience both in academia and industry. He served as an assistant professor at Johnson C. Smith University in North Carolina , where he taught engineering courses and conducted research in optoelectronic devices.
Dr. Filios' work in the industry consisted of research in novel nanoscale/ optoelectronic devices, optical communication systems and optical fibers with Corning 's Inc., Photonics Research and Test Center in Somerset , NJ and Nanodynamics, Inc. in Manhattan . He was responsible for cutting-edge research and development and served as lead scientist in Corning 's optical fiber demo for Metropolitan Area Networks at the National Fiber Optic Engineers Conference (2001).
Dr. Filios has authored or co-authored over 20 journals. Dr. Filios earned his MSE and PhD in Electrical Engineering from the University of North Carolina at Charlotte . He received his BS in Physics from the University of Athens .
