Areas of Expertise:
Dr. Margery Brown earned both a B.A. and Ph.D. from Stony Brook University. In addition to teaching various English/Humanities course at Farmingdale State, she also teaches graduate- level classes in mythology and science fiction for Stony Brook University's School for Professional Development.
She is currently director of Farmingdale State's Writing Center as well as the Visiting Writers Program. The Writing Center provides students with tutoring in all areas of writing. The Visiting Writers Program administers an international poetry competition for the Paumanok Poetry Award and brings creative writers to campus to give readings and workshops for students, the greater campus community and citizens of the surrounding community. She also serves on the board of the Distinguished Speakers Program.

She is active in her neighborhood civic association and has served, at various times, as president, secretary, and trustee.
