Karen Gelles

Since starting at Farmingdale in 1999, she has taken a special interest in the College Archives, and has presented many times on various aspects of College history. In 2010 she and Dr. Laurie Rozakis received an American Heritage Preservation Grant from the Institute of Museum and Library Services for the preservation and organization of the College’s archival collection.   She encourages faculty to leverage the rich history of the College by incorporating hands-on use of archival materials into their class assignments.

Karen Gelles is currently the Head of Technical Services at Greenley Library. She has Bachelor of Arts in both Music and Psychology from SUNY Geneseo, and received her Masters of Library and Information Science from Simmons College, Boston.  She is currently a doctoral candidate in the Information Studies PhD program at Long Island University, C.W. Post campus.
